Right after the 2022/23 season ended, the Chelsea and Australia star visited the US to meet then-girlfriend Kristie Mewis. The couple also shared how their relationship is a source of strength for both of them off the pitch.

In the Netflix documentary Kerr told the camera, "We're both so supportive of each other but also so hard on each other."
She then looked at Mewis and continued, "'Do you know you guys have conceded eight goals this year, four off-set pieces? Corners to be exact. That's horrific. Do you not work on it? You were front post, if you'd jumped higher it wouldn't have got to the middle of the goal."
On having a relationship with a fellow soccer star, the Matildas star added: "I think it drives us. We're both so competitive but then we have our support. Some days I'll come out of a game, she'll come out of a game, and we'll just say we don't want to talk about soccer."
