Newcastle fans have expressed their anger on Twitter after boss Rafa Benitez suggested that their would be no new signings arriving in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard, according to The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, was asked if there were any irons in the fire ready to be confirmed early in the window, to which Benitez replied, “no”.

When asked if that worried him, the former Liverpool boss simply replied, “yes”, which has also concerned Magpies supporters as they face the prospect of no new faces in January, which they are in desperate need of if they are to survive the drop.

Much has been made of owner Mike Ashley, who has never truly backed Benitez during his time at St James’ Park, but his constant failure to deliver excitement and hope to those on Tyneside can only go so far.

If Twitter is anything to go by, those Newcastle fans have had just about enough…
