Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins started and impressed in Portugal’s 0-0 friendly draw with Belgium on Saturday night, and Manchester United fans were quick to deliver their verdict on whether he would be a good signing for them, or not.

Despite previously saying that he was happy with his attacking options, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with the likes of Marko Arnautovic and Mario Mandzukic in recent weeks as he appears more and more likely to add another forward to his frontline this summer.

The 23-year-old brings plenty of pace and trickery from out wide and caused Toby Alderweireld plenty of problems on Saturday, while he ended the 2017/18 campaign with 13 goals and 13 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions for Sporting.

Man United supporters, the large majority of whom want a 29-year-old left-back to arrive at Old Trafford this summer, took to social media to give their thoughts on the Portuguese wideman, and while one described him as “worse than Rashford”, another disagreed and said “if we don’t get Bale then I want him”.
