Aston Villa are expected to be active in the market over the course of the next week, as Steve Bruce looks to sort his side for the promotion push that lies ahead.
While the transfer market shut earlier this month, Villa can take advantage of the loan market until the end of August and could also see some players leave for club’s abroad, where the market in Europe remains open for a number of countries.
One of those nations is Scotland and reports have emerged to suggest that Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are eyeing a move to snatch Villa misfit Ross McCormack from the Championship side after he became surplus to requirements.
The 32-year-old spent time on loan with Melbourne City last season after falling out with Bruce and has been told to find a new club this summer, raising the possibility of a return to Rangers – where he rose through the academy.
